About the Student Life Division
The Student Life division ensures the delivery of student-centred support across the student lifecycle that underpins the University’s broader strategic visions by delivering support services and functions that facilitate and enhance the academic mission of the institution. The Student Life division provides support services and programs that contribute to the student experience and success, including in the areas of health, counselling, disability services, orientation and transition, retention, student wellbeing, and student engagement through the activities of the Flinders University Student Association
About the Role
Flinders University has a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Medical Practice Nurse, to join the Health Counselling and Disability Service.
The Medical Practice Nurse will play a key role in the delivery of a range of health services to students and staff. This includes providing expert support and advice to medical staff and assisting the Health Service to maintain its accreditation status with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
You will also be accountable for:
The provision of clinical nursing services and advice, including responding to emergencies, provision of triage service, support to General Practitioners, infection control, immunisations, wound management, assistance with medical procedures, managing patient results and diagnostic services.
Management of the clinical environment and ensuring the Health Service meets relevant industry standards and legislative requirements including ordering vaccines, cold chain management, maintenance of medical equipment, management of medications and disposal of stock and contributing to the ongoing accreditation of the practice.
Provision of expert advice to the Practice Manager on practices, policy, procedures, and operational issues regarding the Health Service.
About You
You will be an excellent communicator, proficient in written and verbal communication. You will have extensive experience in the triage process and be competent in managing clinical environments, particularly in relation to infection control, management of the cold chain process, the maintenance and supply of drugs and clinical data management, first-aid and resuscitation skills.
The successful Medical Practice Nurse, will also demonstrate:
Registration as a registered nurse in South Australia
Accredited immunisation nurse. (or willingness to become accredited)
Extensive clinical experience and familiarity with relevant health industry standards and legislative requirements.
