  • Base Salary $95,860 - $103,341 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The School of Rural Health (SRH) has been delivering long term rural placements for The University of Sydney year 3 and 4 medical students in Orange and Dubbo for over 20 years. In 2022, The University of Sydney commenced delivery of its four-year graduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program in two streams; a Metropolitan stream based on the University’s Camperdown campus in Sydney, and a Dubbo stream based at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo.

The Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) has provided teaching and support environments for medical, nursing, and allied health students requiring clinical placement since 1996.

The SRH and UDRH have a position available for a suitably qualified Marketing and Communications Support Officer, to support and build marketing and communications capacity for Broken Hill UDRH as well as support the work of the Marketing and Communications team at the School of Rural Health. The role will report to the Marketing and Communications Officer based in Dubbo.

This position is located at Dubbo. Travel between Dubbo, Orange, and other rural sites, including Broken Hill is a requirement of this position.

The Faculty of Medicine and Health is the largest faculty in the University and contains seven academic schools https://www.sydney.edu.au/medicine-health/

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • develop marketing plans and initiatives consistent with the marketing strategies of the University and Faculty

  • produce relevant print and digital marketing and promotional materials for internal and external communications

  • prepare media releases and advertising material to support the respective School and Department

  • provide assistance to maintain the School of Rural Health and Broken Hill UDRH websites

  • prepare budgets as appropriate

  • provide a leadership role in relation to University, Department and School branding

  • provide reports on communication, marketing and advertising activities.

About you

  • have a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of training and experience in marketing, communications or journalism

  • demonstrated experience in developing and implementing marketing, promotion and advertising campaigns

  • demonstrated knowledge and experience with web authoring, web design, programming, information architecture and graphic design software and technologies

  • demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with internal staff and with external agencies to support the development and implementation of marketing activities

  • have excellent project management skills and the ability to work to deadlines across a number of projects simultaneously

  • well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability liaise with staff at all levels and across multiple institutions

  • compliance with the Public Health (COVID-19 Vaccination of Health Care Workers) Order 2021

  • have a current driver’s license.
