About the Sydney Quantum Academy

The Sydney Quantum Academy is a joint venture between The University of Sydney, The University of New South Wales, Macquarie University and University of Technology Sydney, to establish Sydney (and Australia) as a global destination for talent, investment, and innovation in relation to quantum technology and the future quantum economy. Collaborating with academia, industry, and government, SQA harnesses Sydney’s collective quantum expertise to develop diverse talent and a globally recognised quantum ecosystem.

About the opportunity

As the Marketing and Communications Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Manager, Communications, Marketing and Media to achieve the Sydney Quantum Academy’s marketing and communications objectives. You will proactively contribute to content plans and coordinate and create content across a variety of channels including website; social media; newsletters; events and marketing activities as well as merchandising.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to attend and support events that may occur outside of standard business hours.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work within a small and dynamic team, reporting to the Manager, Communications, Marketing and Media

  • coordinate and create communications using different channels including newsletters, email, and websites

  • coordinate the marketing and promotion of SQA events and programs according to agreed plans

  • proactively provide input into the planning of paid and organic marketing campaigns and implement these according to agreed plans

  • coordinate social media content plans and work with the SQA team, stakeholders, students and academics to source and create engaging content

  • provide frontline support and assistance for events on SQA premises or where required

  • monitor and evaluate communications and proactively recommend improvements and new ways of communicating with target audiences.

About you

  • tertiary qualifications and/or relevant work experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field

  • demonstrated experience in marketing and communications using relevant channels to achieve desired objectives

  • experience in developing and executing integrated brand and product marketing communications campaigns across a broad range of media channels and mediums

  • demonstrated experience using content management systems such as, Adobe suite, WordPress, Canva as well as experience in Campaign Monitor and Google analytics is highly desirable

  • demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders within a complex organisation

  • high level oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills

  • well-developed project management skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and to meet deadlines.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
