Make significant contribution to the strategic aspirations of Wirltu Yarlu and provide operational leadership services to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in the University

Receiving broad direction from the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement) (PVC(IE)), and operating with a high degree of overall autonomy, the Manager, Wirltu Yarlu is responsible for the operational leadership of Wirltu Yarlu across the outreach and recruitment, student support, research pipeline and community engagement functions.

The Manager, Wirltu Yarlu is also expected to make a significant contribution to both the development of strategic and operational aspirations of Wirltu Yarlu. This includes building relationships with faculties, central business units, external stakeholders and the broader Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The Manager will also provide leadership to the Wirltu Yarlu team and the University in creating effective learning environments for all students, and partner across the organisation to achieve better participation of indigenous employees that are respectful and welcoming, and that embed Indigenous views, knowledge and voices.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience at Senior Management Level with experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver business outcomes.
  • Extensive experience, in the effective management of complex budgets.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and high level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven capacity to create, implement and operationalise strategies.
  • Comprehensive awareness and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, within the higher education sector.

This position requires a valid Working with Children Check.
