About the opportunity

The Global & Research Engagement team at the University of Sydney facilitates collaborations and drives research initiatives. Through strategic partnerships and innovative programs, they amplify the university's research impact. They are now looking for a Manager, University Centres to join their dynamic team!

As the Manager, University Centres, you will play a pivotal role in the overall administration and execution of the University Centre Policy providing guidance to stakeholders including Faculties and University Centres.

Reporting to the Director, Multidisciplinary and Strategic Research Partnerships, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • collaborate closely with the Director and Pro-Vice-Chancellor – Global and Research Engagement, providing sound advice on policy and procedures for Centre administration activities

  • manage the establishment, annual reporting, reviews, and closure of Centres, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures

  • utilise excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills to manage stakeholder relationships effectively, fostering collaboration and influencing positive change

  • ensure a review of the Centres Policy and Procedures is conducted every 5 years

  • translate strategic changes into operational practices, driving desired outcomes and enhancing the function of Centres.

  • demonstrate exceptional time and workload management skills, prioritising tasks effectively to meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes

  • excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service across all organisational levels and facilitate effective collaboration and relationship building

  • strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and sound judgment, with the capacity to identify strategic issues and respond appropriately including considering and applying policy frameworks relating to the development and delivery of research outcomes

  • proven ability to supervise, train, mentor, and manage staff, resolving diverse HR issues effectively.
