  • Commencement Salary: $101,110 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

The Manager: Technical Services is accountable for the successful integration, delivery and management of an extensive range of technical operations and services, including laboratory and facilities, which support teaching and research within UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences. This includes acting as a reference point in providing innovative solutions, optimising resources, and working collaboratively to ensure the delivery of streamlined technical services across the Academic Unit.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of multi-disciplinary staff, responsible for the delivery of a range of technical services
  • Act as an expert and reference point for technical services, guiding the provision of specialised technical advice to staff and students on the design of complex projects/experiments and bespoke equipment
  • Manage technical operations, services and facilities to ensure high quality technical services are provided to students, staff and visitors
  • Support the procurement, acquisition and installation of new equipment and consumables
  • Manage Work Health and Safety responsibilities in accordance with legislative, regulatory and licensing requirements and within the University’s policies and procedures

Essential Skills and Experience
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and extensive technical experience and skills in the management of laboratory or research facilities
  • Experience in leading, managing and developing high performing teams, including fostering an effective service-oriented culture
  • Strategic and problem-solving skills, including proven hands-on experience in evaluating intricate technical requirements for research and consultancy projects, and designing procedures and techniques to solve complex technical problems
  • Knowledge of WHS legislation and experience in managing a multi-site workplace with significant WHS requirements including developing and maintaining quality systems
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully influence, communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
