About the Role

We have an exciting new position within the team at UniSA STEM for a Manager Technical Services: Electrical, Electronic and IT. This is your opportunity to join a newly established leadership team as we deliver technical services to support teaching, research and commercial activities.

This role is accountable for the successful integration, delivery, and management of an extensive range of technical operations. This includes leading a team of technical staff, acting as a discipline expert and reference point in providing innovative solutions, optimising resources, and working collaboratively to ensure the delivery of streamlined technical services across the Unit.

Core Responsibilities

  • Act as an expert and reference point for technical services in the Electronic and Information Technology disciplines
  • Manage Electrical, Electronic and Information Technology discipline’s day to day technical operations and services to ensure high quality technical services are provided to students, staff and visitors
  • Lead the procurement, acquisition and installation of new equipment and lab consumables
  • Support the STEM Executive team to manage the Unit’s infrastructure and resources
  • Contribute to leading the management of the Unit’s technical Work Health and Safety responsibilities in accordance with legislative, regulatory and licensing requirements and within the University’s policies and procedures
  • Liaise with the Commercial Manager to identify, shape, drive and maximise STEM’s commercial testing and consulting activities within the discipline


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and developing a team
  • Knowledge of WHS legislation and experience in managing a multi-site workplace with significant WHS requirements
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate, communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated strategic conceptual abilities, including proven hands-on experience in evaluating intricate technical requirements for research and consultancy projects, and designing advanced analytical procedures and techniques to solve complex industrial problems
