  • Commencement Salary: $119,598 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

The Manager: Systems Infrastructure is responsible for the overall strategic direction and operation of the University’s IT systems infrastructure (servers, data storage and infrastructure applications). This infrastructure underpins and enables the smooth operation of all enterprise IT systems including those supporting the teaching, research, student experience and administration activities of the University.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Director: ICT Infrastructure, the Manager: Systems Infrastructure is responsible for the planning, development, support, maintenance and performance of a complex range of critical services which must be available 24 x 7 x 365.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead, and motivate a team of infrastructure technologists to provide a customer service delivery approach supporting the systems infrastructure environment
  • Provide a consultancy and advisory service to senior stakeholders across the University
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and documentation of disaster recovery and business continuity efforts
  • Ensure prudent financial planning for recurrent expenditure including staff salaries, staff development, equipment replacement, hardware maintenance and software licence agreements
  • Maintain system, network, and security disaster recovery plans, scripts, and coordinate testing


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience leading and managing a large and complex team of Information Technology specialists, preferably in an infrastructure environment
  • Significant experience in developing and implementing strategies and policies for the delivery of quality systems infrastructure
  • Extensive experience in the management of substantial capital and recurrent budgets relating to infrastructure replacement and maintenance
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and a high level of written skills
  • Broad knowledge and experience of server and storage infrastructure and associated technologies in a complex computing environment
