Victoria University (VU) is seeking a digitally savvy communication and engagement specialist, to support the Vice-Chancellor and Executive team in creating compelling narratives and meaningful engagements to drive strategy achievement and elevate the University’s reputation.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Chief of the Staff in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, this key leadership role serves as a trusted advisor, offering expert counsel and support to the Vice-Chancellor, Chancellor, and senior executives. 

Through strategic guidance and a hands-on approach, the role will facilitate the attainment of high-quality, clear and forward-thinking communications to diverse audiences; as well as actively fostering engagement initiatives that promote meaningful interaction and advance VU’s strategy with key stakeholders.

The role is a member of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor team working closely with the Chief of Staff, Director, Strategy and Planning and Executive Coordinator in supporting the Vice-Chancellor, strategically and operationally.

This position is at the classification of  HEP Level 9, $124,066- $129,080 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. This is a full-time (36.75 hours per week) continuing position.

About You:

  • A proven track record in the development and delivery of integrated communication and engagement initiatives, physical and digital, to drive strategy understanding and implementation. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate confidently with senior executive and leadership, as well as building and sustaining relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proficiency in digital communications platforms and emerging technologies, with a strategic mindset towards leveraging new channels and trends.
  • High-level conceptual and analytical skills and the capacity to gain a quick understanding of a diverse range of topics and sensitive information. 
  • Great communication skills with the ability to influence and liaise with senior stakeholders and academics.
  • Ability to apply judgement, creativity, and flexibility to generate new and innovative ideas and approaches to solve complex problems.
