About This Opportunity 

The primary purpose of the role is to:

  • Oversee and provide specialized services to enhance research data management at the University, ensuring the Library supports optimal research practices, balancing openness with confidentiality as required.

  • Develop, implement, and sustain training initiatives and resources focused on research data management and open research for the UQ community, including tailored support for UQ Librarians.

  • Stay abreast of developments in research data and open research fields, offering guidance and suggestions to shape service delivery and introduce new offerings, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Collaborate internally and externally to deliver research data and open research services in line with University and Library strategic objectives, including supporting tools like the Research Data Manager and Journal Search Tool.

  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with research units, divisions, and individual researchers to promote awareness and utilization of available services.

  • Lead and manage the Research Data and Open Research Services team, providing guidance and support.

  • Monitor the landscape of data management and open research, offering expert advice to Library executives, developing training programs, and leading projects aligned with Indigenous Data Governance and FAIR and CARE principles.


About You  

  • Postgraduate degree with substantial experience in research-intensive university settings or equivalent.

  • Proven expertise in providing high-level support for research activities and research data services within a University Library context.

  • Strong knowledge of research data management, including technology utilization, and adept organizational skills to manage multiple projects efficiently.

  • Proficiency in analysing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative information to inform decision-making processes.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
