Our dedicated Psychological and Counselling Service (PACS) team supports students at a range of levels, from helping settling into university life, to providing our student community with counselling, resources and advice during crises and other stressful situations.
 
Your new role

In this role, you will lead the clinical operations of Curtin's University Psychological and Counselling Service (PACS) team. You will provide a full range of individual and group counselling, consultancy to staff on issues related to student counselling, promotion of counselling service and group program within the university community.  Your advice, guidance and support to counselling Staff will help them to thrive in their role.

This rare opportunity includes:

  • Manage the operational activities for the team of Psychological and Counselling Service (PACS), including developing and implementing policies and procedures for crisis intervention, therapeutic work, clinical supervision, group and outreach services.
  • Co-ordinate critical incident and crisis management response in collaboration with the Head of Service.
  • Develop, implement, and review psycho-educational workshops, webinars and programs for students for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the recruitment & selection of staff processes as required and induct new staff.
  • Deputise for the Head of Service in their absence.
  • Manage the collection and analysis of data for the evaluation of services provided.
  • Contribute to service planning and prioritisation of services and identification of relevant performance indicators.
  • Ensure that all staff maintain the requirements for registration with the Psychologist Board of WA
  • Support clinical practice and assist staff to acquire and maintain the knowledge, skills, and clinical judgement for safe performance in the delivery of quality client centred services. 
 We are looking for someone with…
  • Eligibility for registration as a clinical or counselling psychologist in Australia consistent with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • A passion for motivating, developing, empowering, and coaching staff to achieve excellence in work performance and deliver outstanding client centred services.
  • Proven experience in delivering and supervising high quality clinical practice for clients with diverse cultural and counselling needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice and quality standards in the delivery of counselling services including systems, supervision practice, monitoring and evaluation of services and research.
  • Ability to consult and engage confidently and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Current or ability to obtain a Working with Children check.
