About the opportunity

A part of the People Services leadership team, the Manager, People and Recruitment has two key accountabilities: management and provision of employment related advice and administration and supporting the University’s recruitment function. You will lead and support a centralised People and Recruitment Advisory team providing solutions focused People and Wellbeing advice and administration on the application and interpretation of policies, procedures, agreements, employment conditions and entitlements.

Partnering with the Talent Acquisition team, you will also have responsibility for managing the University’s recruitment function, ensuring that recruitment practices are designed to deliver a great hiring experience for hiring managers and candidates alike. Your centralised team provides support to hiring managers from the point of receiving a request to hire through to contract acceptance and onboarding.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive a productive partnership between People and Wellbeing and the broader University Colleges, Institutes and Divisions, ensuring the effective provision of the full breadth of HR advice, administration, and recruitment support.
  • Promote People & Recruitment team services to increase visibility and access to Tier 1 People and Wellbeing advice and support via service now and the people services phone line.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to People and Recruitment Advisors to enable and support their growth and development.
  • Provide guidance on HR advice, acting as a point of escalation, in response to a broad range of first level (non-case management) queries.
  • Monitor and report on service delivery metrics including time to hire, call and ticket volumes and customer satisfaction levels to effectively manage team performance, resourcing, and customer experience.
  • Deliver new initiatives that improve service delivery, employee experience and hiring compliance.

­What we’re looking for:

  • A degree in a Human Resources field with relevant management experience and or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience in providing human resources advisory and/or recruitment services in a shared or tiered service delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, building and managing teams through a genuine people-centric, customer focused and continuous improvement approach.
  • The ability to lead and motivate teams through positive and innovative improvements, including identifying areas for improvement and co-designing solutions, which respond to changing needs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to devise creative and effective solutions and plans for a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and delivering process and service improvement initiatives.

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $151,543 comprising base salary within the range of $122,887 to $129,524 plus 17% superannuation.
