About This Opportunity 

We are seeking an education leader to serve as Manager, Learning Design Projects within the UQ Business School’s Learning Design Team.  The Manager, Learning Design Projects is responsible for the pedagogical design and planning of strategic projects within the teaching and learning portfolio.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Provide leadership in pedagogy and project management for teaching and learning projects that support program transformation and ensure quality student experiences.

  • Provide strategic advice to school leadership and other key academic and professional staff on the identification, scoping and implementation of strategic teaching and learning projects including Executive Education projects.

  • Utilise UX and SX design principles to direct the implementation of teaching and learning projects that incorporate best practice processes and procedures, appropriate resource allocation and project milestone reporting.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with academic and professional staff within the school, faculty and central units to promote sound and consistent educational practice.

  • Utilise data to inform decisions related to the identification, implementation, and review of teaching and learning projects.

  • Lead and manage staff and resources in a manner that inspires a high-performance culture.

  • Other duties as reasonably requested by the supervisor.

The position reports to the Senior Manager, Learning Design and leads a diverse team responsible for the implementation of strategic learning projects. While the position is located within the UQ Business School, the Manager may from time to time be required to support learning design projects for other Programs in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law.

This is a full-time continuing position.

At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,975.08 - $122,176.31, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $127,500.84 - $142,946.29 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.


About You  

  • Postgraduate qualifications and experience within the university sector; extensive relevant experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

  • Demonstrated expertise and understanding of curriculum design principles including those relevant to blended and online learning, adult learning and continuing education or professional development.

  • Expertise and significant experience in developing innovative approaches to designing, redesigning and developing courses and / or programs for adult learning.

  • Experience in managing small and large curriculum projects or complex projects that involve multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Superior communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills to lead, collaborate with and develop team and stakeholder capabilities.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing a team with a focus on creating a high-performing service culture.

  • Proven ability to work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external.
