About the Role

The Finance Unit at the University of South Australia supports the University to thrive in a competitive and rapidly evolving global environment. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for an experienced finance professional to manage and enhance the delivery of well-established financial business advisory services supporting our Professional Units at UniSA.

Reporting to the Associate Director: Corporate Finance, you will build effective working relationships with key stakeholders including senior staff in our Professional Units. Leading and developing a team of Finance Business Partners, you will also drive the identification and implementation of strategic initiatives that continue to improve the finance service delivery and efficiency of the finance function.

Core Responsibilities

  • Providing professional and expert advice and financial analysis related to key business and financial decisions
  • Fostering and building effective business partner relationships with Professional Unit Directors to create opportunities for insight and collaborative problem solving
  • Manage the development of high level financial papers and reports for Professional Units, the Executive Leadership Team and Audit, Finance and Risk committee
  • Prepare and review business cases for Professional Unit expenditure requests
  • Lead, mentor and manage performance and development of the Finance Business Partner team

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in a finance related discipline and CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand membership or equivalent
  • Proven ability to lead and manage professional staff within a team that engenders a high-performing, collaborative service culture
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships at all levels and to respond to challenging financial matters
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing strategies to improve the delivery of a finance function within an organisation
  • Demonstrated breadth and depth of knowledge and experience with respect to a wide range of financial and accrual accounting structures, principles and practices
