About This Opportunity 

The Manager, Engagement and Student Recruitment is responsible for driving and managing customer-centric, evidenced-based outreach, engagement and recruitment strategies, programs and activities for a range of audiences. A key focus is leading and managing development, optimisation, delivery and evaluation of domestic undergraduate and postgraduate future student pipeline development and recruitment strategies and partnerships that measurably support UQ and Faculty strategic priorities and achievements of targets, including UQ’s Queensland Commitment .

This is a hands-on role, leading a small team within Science Marketing, Communications and Future Students unit, and will require you to work collaboratively with colleagues across the university, subject matter experts and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include: 

Strategy and planning

  • Manage the development and delivery of future student engagement and recruitment plans and activities for undergraduate and post-graduate coursework programs, ensuring a collaborative approach with partners, internal and external stakeholders, and a coordinated approach across the Faculty.

Outreach, Recruitment and Engagement

  • Create opportunities, build effective relationships with secondary schools and industry organisations/groups

  • Oversee a coordinated approach across the Faculty, ensuring strategically aligned and successful engagement and recruitment initiatives, workshops, and events

  • Drive B2C, B2B2C, B2B strategies to achieve student recruitment goals

  • Develop marketing content for future student pipeline growth and student recruitment initiatives

  • Provide advice and services to internal clients for a range of other external engagement activities, including event planning support, assessments and recommendations on engagement initiatives, sponsorships, events.

Evaluation and reporting

  • Measure and report the effectiveness of engagement, outreach and student recruitment initiatives.

  • Use market data and customer insights to inform strategies and activities, and use data to drive continuous improvement.

Management

  • Supervise a team of 3-4, and participate in committees and working groups as required.

  • Build relationships with internal teams and manage a small budget.

Location and Travel

  • The position is based at the St Lucia campus but travel will be required routinely to UQ Gatton Campus.

  • Undertake occasional evening and weekend events e.g. Open Day, outreach, recruitment and engagement events.

  • The role may be required to travel very occasionally, representing UQ at intrastate and interstate events (and may include after hours and weekends as agreed in advance).

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position until end of February 2025.

At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,975.08 - $122,176.31, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $127,500.84 - $142,946.29 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You  

  • Degree in marketing/business and/or equivalent experience in student recruitment or relevant transferrable experience

  • Proven track record of developing, delivering and evaluating successful student recruitment strategies and activities

  • Strong experience in developing and nurturing successful partnerships and stakeholder relationships

  • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating external engagement strategies, activities and events for a range of audiences

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills, and strong organizational abilities

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to use data to inform strategies

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into easy to understand marketing and communications content, and working effectively with subject matter experts

  • Experience managing teams, developing a high-performance team culture, and budget management

  • Proficient in relevant software including event management, marketing, CRM, and MS Office

  • Experience in higher education or related sector is highly desirable.
