  • Base salary range: Level 9 $119,390 – $ 126,335 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The UWA Office of Industry and Commercial Development (OICD) under the leadership of the Pro Vice Chancellor (Industry and Commercial) leads the development of research relationships with industry and government partners that materially benefit the financial position and reputation of the University.

The division supports the University’s objectives in the identification and co-ordination of business development and commercialisation for the University across a diverse portfolio including agriculture, health and medicine, defence, space, oceans, data, energy and resources.

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will, under broad direction and reporting directly to the Associate Director Commercialisation, work closely with researchers and internal stakeholders to identify, protect, develop and commercialise intellectual property created at the university and to identify and engage with potential industry partners and investors with a view to developing commercial plans, creating partnerships and delivering research impact.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate :

  • Postgraduate qualification in a physical science or engineering or related discipline
  • Demonstrated relevant commercial experience in industry
  • Knowledge of funding programs and investment available to facilitate commercialisation and industry development is desirable
  • Understanding of the research process, technology transfer, IP management and commercialisation as conducted in Australian universities is desirable
  • Experience with start-up companies and or investment portfolio management is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills for effective negotiation, stakeholder engagement and communication with senior decision makers
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, problem solve and work productively as part of a team
  • Excellent report writing and analytical skills
