Your new role
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and creative leader to work in collaboration with our faculty-focused Advancement teams to drive Curtin’s alumni and community relations strategy into the future.
The major bodies of work include the delivery of the university-wide alumni and community relations program that can be optimised to increase meaningful alumni engagement and giving to the faculties.
This is an exciting, varied, and challenging role that will enable you to be part of the next phase of enhancing Curtin’s Advancement program.

In this role you will:

  • Lead a small team to drive the university-wide alumni and community relations strategy on a local, national and global scale;
  • Work with faculty Advancement teams to support meaningful alumni engagement and giving to the faculties;
  • Work with Curtin Global and the faculties to drive international alumni engagement;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with various alumni groups, including leading alumni, future alumni, donors and volunteers;
  • Participate as an active member of the Advancement leadership team;
  • Contribute to university-wide Advancement campaigns.

Essential Criteria 

  • Completion of a degree with extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and/or fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of strategies and plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects, competing priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated professional writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate and timely communication materials, for diverse, multi-cultural audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and build relationships with a diverse range of people, including senior leaders, both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar customer relationship management database.  
  • Desirable Criteria 
  • Experience in a tertiary education environment, particularly in alumni relations and/or fundraising.
  • Experience in bequests and/or annual giving initiatives such as direct mail, telephone and online giving.
  • Experience in communications.
