National Imaging Facility (NIF) is Australia’s advanced imaging network. 

We provide a full suite of advanced imaging capability including preclinical and clinical, human and animal imaging, radiochemistry, and imaging data analysis. Our expertise, equipment and services are critical to Australia’s ability to translate health discoveries, undertake clinical trials and commercialise medical products. Our capabilities beyond health are unique in Australia.  

NIF is an Unincorporated Joint Venture (UJV), administered by UQ. It operates as a national collaborative capability of 14 Partner organisations across 5 states, governed by an independent Board. It receives funding through the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) with co-funding from Australian and state government agencies and Partner institutions.


About This Opportunity 

We are seeking a numbers-oriented, motivated and organised Management Accountant to provide a range of high-level accounting advice and services to support NIF’s finance strategy.  This includes undertaking and overseeing activities such as planning, budgeting, forecasting, transaction management, financial analysis, reporting and financial performance monitoring.

Locally known as Principal Finance Officer this role collaborates closely with the NIF CEO and Director (Operations) to ensure effective finance management aligns with organizational goals and statutory obligations to funders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Perform, oversee and guide a range of financial management responsibilities aligned to NIF business needs including planning, budgeting, forecasting, transaction management, financial analysis, reporting and financial performance monitoring in accordance with policies, procedures and standards.

  • Generates regular financial reporting and analysis covering complex transactional processing, and ensures appropriate actions, communications and escalation of issues to the NIF Director (Operations)

  • Supports the NIF Director (Operations) with the preparation of Board and NCRIS reporting documents and activities.

  • Provides strategic financial advice to guide decision making around the development of effective strategies for compliant cost management and effective utilisation of grants and related funding.

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with relevant business units, and maintain a seamless interface with the advisory, transactions and grants-accounting services streams

  • Contributes to the development and alignment of business processes and standard operating procedures that relate to Finance transactions processing and data capture

  • Liaise internally and externally to collect, collate, interpret and validate data used as performance metrics for NIF

  • Co-ordinate and assist in the preparation of data visualisations, reports, briefings and submissions to internal and external stakeholders, including funding bodies, the NIF Board and our Partners.

  • Other duties as reasonably requested by the supervisor.
      


About You

Candidates should possess strong administration, communication, and organizational skills, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Degree qualifications in accounting, business, commerce or a related field with relevant experience in transactions processing or shared services functions and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and professional experience

  • Strong financial accounting, analysis and reporting skills, with experience managing and providing project based accounting services.

  • Ability to apply problem solving and analytical skills to investigate and ensure data integrity in transaction processing, and the resolution of any issues within the parameters of policy frameworks

  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders and clients ensuring service delivery meets key requirements

  • Ability to work within a busy team and in complex stakeholder and policy environments, whilst taking full accountability for the efficient delivery of set tasks within agreed timeframes and to agreed service standards

  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders and clients, and apply sound problem solving and communication skills to influence and achieve outcomes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds

  • Highly effective organisational, time management and problem solving skills

  • Working knowledge of University administrative systems, policies and procedures or the capacity to rapidly acquire this knowledge

What We Can Offer  

 This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 31 December 2026 at HEW 7.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $96,649 - $105,244 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $113,080 - $123,136 per annum.
