About the Role
Flinders University has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Fellow to advance high level breast cancer research, delivering new research capabilities, and building on the existing strengths of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI). Through a high degree of autonomy and collaboration, the Senior Research Fellow will establish an independent breast cancer research laboratory within the FHMRI-Cancer program. This will involve strategic planning, leading an environment of research excellence, developing relationships with important stakeholders, and actively mentoring Higher Degree students.
About You
The Lyn Wrigley Senior Research Fellow in Breast Cancer will be a significantly experienced research leader in breast cancer research, demonstrated by high-quality publications, successful competitive grants and effective research collaborations in the wider community. The Breast Cancer Research Fellow will be a high-level communicator in all forms, especially when supervising research students, mentoring staff, and working with the wider team. Building on existing relationships and networks with Flinders researchers, the Research Fellow will be expected to collaborate and build relationships with industry leaders.
The incumbent will also demonstrate:
Completion of a PhD, or equivalent, in cancer research and successful post-doctoral experience.
Skill in managing and coordinating activities for a research-intensive unit, including the use of independent judgement under minimal supervision.
Potential to become an independent investigator, leading to a successful independent research group during the fellowship.
