As a Licensing and Subscriptions Librarian, you will:

  • Investigate the acquisition of new information resources including conducting trials, evaluating content and liaising with stakeholders on teaching, learning and research requirements
  • Complete acquisition and renewal workflows including price negotiation with vendors, content and license evaluation, and collation of documentation for evaluation
  • Adhere to critical timeframes for procurement activities including license expiration dates and CAUL renewal deadlines to ensure uninterrupted access to electronic resources
  • Investigate and identify relevant solutions and select the most appropriate from the range of alternatives.
  • Build new and productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and key and influential individuals both inside and outside the University
  • Strive for excellence and consult regularly with clients to clarify who requires the information, the purpose for which it is required, criteria for success and where and when advice and recommendation is required
  • Communicate with confidence using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique for a given situation to increase understanding and support 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree and/or postgraduate qualifications in library and information science conferring eligibility for Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training
  • Demonstrated experience in information resource procurement processes, preferably in the higher education sector
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in integrated library management systems and experience in using a variety of software applications and library operating systems
