Overview:

  • Part-time (25 hours per week), Continuing position – Part Year

  • Salary HEW 2 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  • May be required to work at Library sites at the City, Bundoora, Brunswick, Carlton campus or at the CARM store at Bundoora for project work.

About the Role
The main focus of the Library Concierge role is to deliver a high level of customer service while working on the Library Concierge service points, and to undertake physical maintenance of the collections. Concierge duties include responding to basic queries such as directional and orientation questions and referral to other Library services like Ask the Library or Study Support.  A device and uniform (apron) will be provided to staff while they are undertaking concierge duties to support referrals and responses to questions

Staff in this role may be asked to perform physical collections tasks, or a combination of these tasks in any particular rostered shift. The incumbents will be required to open and close Library spaces.  The role may also be required to work across the library on projects and programs of work.

Training will be provided in safe manual handling practices, Dewey Decimal system, service orientation, basic customer queries and customer service. Out of hours rostered weekend work and evening shifts may be required in this role.

Please note that this is a part year role and will run from February to November.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, including effective verbal communication and rapport building.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service to a significantly diverse audience.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Experience in the use of computers, particularly email and basic Excel skills.

  • Knowledge and understanding of safe manual handling practices as they relate to libraries is desirable, training will be provided.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Dewey Decimal classification system for sorting library materials is desirable.
