About You
The Library Business Partner represents the Library in strategic partnership with a nominated RMIT College, Portfolio or business unit(s). The role develops and maintains high level relationships that are focused on identifying strategic opportunities for the Library to assist the Colleges and Portfolios to deliver outcomes for the University.

The role is broad in nature encompassing: managing stakeholder relations and engagement; providing strategic advice and facilitating strategic initiatives; and delivering business improvement through collaborative problem identification and resolution.

Library Business Partners advocate on behalf of the Library, promoting Library services and resources to customers, and providing a conduit for information to/from the Library. The role works with stakeholders to identify needs and ensure that Library services and resources are aligned to College/School/Portfolio learning, teaching and research programs. The Business Partners work together as a team to align strategies and identify common opportunities.

The role provides strategic advice to Library management to ensure that services are aligned, fit-for-purpose, and appropriately resourced.

The role may be required to work across the Library on projects and programs of work.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • A strong understanding of learning, teaching and research issues in the Australian Higher Education environment and their impact on the information landscape
  • Proven ability to build engaging and influential relationships with key partners to deliver agreed outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to influence strategic thinking, foster innovation and achieve outcomes
  • Demonstrated high level conceptual and analytical skills, sound judgment, and negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both the physical and online environments, with the ability to engage across a range of diverse cohorts

RMIT University Library is a creative partner in the achievement of RMIT University’s teaching, learning and research goals. It engages with other groups within the University to design initiatives that have a positive impact on the student experience including the provision of direct support, advice and guidance for students’ academic skill development. It provides resources, services and facilities to support the information needs of RMIT's large and globally distributed student and staff population and supplies expertise for the management of the University’s archives and business information.

In order to support the goals and operations of the University the Library is arranged into 4 main functional areas: Learning; Teaching and Research; Collections and Quality and Engagement. The Library increasingly delivers collections and services online to maximize access by the RMIT user population.

At RMIT Melbourne, the University Library operates from 4 different locations: the Swanston Library; the Bundoora Library; the Carlton Library and Brunswick Library. At RMIT Vietnam, the Library supports the 6,000 students from 2 locations: Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. They provide flexible, networked spaces for individual and group study, computer equipped group study rooms and seminar rooms for academic and library research skills training.
