Under general to broad direction, the Librarian (Learning and Teaching Library Services) works collaboratively with the Learning and Teaching Library Services team under the guidance of the Library Coordinator (Education Engagement), to enable all students to critically engage in an information rich world by providing a sustainable, scaffolded and strategic approach to embedding information, digital and academic literacies in teaching and learning across the University.
Key Position Responsibilities
The Librarian (Learning and Teaching Library Services) will be accountable for:
Collaborating with the Learning and Teaching Library Services team, using agile principles, to provide high quality learning support to the University.
Under general to broad direction, creating and maintaining learning and teaching materials for diverse learning environments, including face-to-face, online and blended.
Contributing to the development of systems and processes required to inform and support the activities of the Learning and Teaching Library Services team.
Contributing to a diverse range of the Library/University's information, digital and academic literacies projects and initiatives.
Contributing to the development of knowledge regarding pedagogy and information, digital and academic literacy requirements across and within the disciplines.
Developing the skills and knowledge to communicate the value of information, digital and academic literacy.
Provide administrative support including notetaking, preparing minutes and reports and scheduling the activities of the Learning and Teaching Library Services team.
Supporting the day-to-day supervision to HEO5/6 librarians working with the Learning and Teaching Services team.
Membership and contribution to relevant Library Committees.
Deputise for the Learning and Teaching Librarians.
Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the role as assigned by the Supervisor, the Learning and Teaching Librarians and/or the University.
Key Position Capabilities
Relevant University degree and eligibility for Associate (professional) membership of ALIA.
Relevant experience in an academic or research library.
General to broad knowledge of pedagogies used in higher education.
Demonstrated experience in developing and evaluating learning materials.
Demonstrated information, digital and academic literacy skills.
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and judgement to resolve complex problems, determine and prioritise tasks, attend to detail and meet deadlines
Demonstrated experience producing promotional and marketing materials in various formats.
Demonstrated well developed to high written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in both face-to-face and online environments.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and proactively within own team and with other teams.
Demonstrated ability to be a self- directed learner with openness to exploring new ideas, pedagogical practices and new instructional technologies.
