Your new role

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Librarian to join our team at Curtin University!

We are seeking a proactive and innovative Librarian to join our friendly Library team, and undertake a varied range of professional tasks.  You will have the opportunity to develop new ways to provide resources, services and facilities, to support teaching, learning and research. You will also work closely with the Library team at Curtin’s Perth Campus, supporting online services and participating in projects.

This includes:


  • Provide an information service to clients using appropriate technologies.
  • Report on the potential of new services and emerging technologies to meet client needs.
  • Lead, plan, deliver and evaluate skills programs and materials to support the development of graduate capabilities by Curtin students.
  • Coordinate the spaces in the Library and manage bookings.
  • Train, co-ordinate and supervise staff as required.
  • Provide a range of research support services and research skills development.
  • Lead or contribute to Library initiatives, team planning, working parties and teams.
  • Streamline workflows to ensure ongoing efficiencies as a continuous improvement outcome.
  • Effectively communicate and promote Library services.
About you

Completion of a professional qualification in librarianship recognised for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association, combined with relevant work experience.

  • Demonstrated information management skills including a thorough understanding of the application of new and emerging technologies relevant to the delivery of access to scholarly information resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of diverse groups and individuals.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well within a team situation and the ability to co-ordinate team activities or project work.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively and flexibly in a changing environment; manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high quality, client focussed services and innovative problem solving.
  • Experience in the day-to-day supervision of a small team (desirable).
  • Experience as a teacher or trainer (desirable).
  

As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
