Your new role
 
With the success, growth, and evolution of Curtin Medical School, we are currently seeking highly experienced and influential Teaching Academics to join our expanding team. These positions, available on a part-time, 0.4 FTE, continuing (permanent) basis, will facilitate Problem Based learning and Clinical Skills courses within the foundation years (Years 1-3) for MBBS.
As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will facilitate Problem-Based Learning and Clinical SkillsLearning, and/or other teaching aligned with your expertise such as teaching in the Professionalism and Leadership Domain (includes medical ethics and law content). Drawing on your wealth of clinical and teaching expertise, you will cultivate an inspiring learning environment for our students. Your role involves not only facilitating dynamic class group discussions but also ensuring positive engagement, all while contributing to the shaping of the future of medicine.
In addition, there is also opportunity for ambitious candidates seeking a leadership role as Deputy Unit Coordinator (Year 1). This position includes a large teaching and engagement component as per above, however will also provide leadership capabilities within the team. The role will oversee teaching of first year MBBS courses, but also has opportunity to engage in foundation years 2 & 3, depending on the clinical expertise of the successful candidate.
We are looking for people with:

  • A degree in Medicine with APHRA registration (highly desirable). 
  • PhD or Clinical Fellowship (highly desirable). 
  • Proven high level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching and learning. 
  • A strong understanding of contemporary educational practice in medical education. 
  • Curriculum expertise and the ability to coordinate and support the foundation years of the MBBS program. 
  • A background in education and healthcare, combining your knowledge of curriculum design with healthcare expertise. 
  • An emerging record of peer reviewed publications (desirable). 

Your career history will showcase your professional expertise and your excellence in teaching and engagement. A good understanding of the student learning experience through high quality, effective teaching practice and curriculum understanding is essential.
