  • Full-time, 3-year fixed term contract
  • Commencement Salary: $90,451 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

This Teaching Academic position is primarily focussed on the preparation and delivery of teaching and associated administrative duties within UniSA Education Futures’ undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs. The appointed academic will work with guidance and direction from other academic staff and will undertake duties with increasing autonomy as the staff member gains skills and experience. The Lecturer in TESOL will utilise contemporary professional/discipline-related knowledge in their teaching practice and perform activities to develop scholarly expertise.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing and implementing learning activities including lectures, tutorials, assessment and provide timely feedback to students
  • Adopt appropriate teaching approaches to promote student learning and contribute to the design and development of engaging course curricula and materials
  • Act as a student advisor by providing academic counselling, mentoring and advice to students
  • Undertake course coordination duties as required and support the professional development of colleagues through involvement in peer review of teaching
  • Demonstrate a commitment to community engagement and be active in raising the profile of the discipline and the Academic Unit
  • Undertake developmental activities to maintain currency with the profession/discipline

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Post-graduate teaching qualification and relevant education experience
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake teaching duties to support EAL/D learners in schools including the design and preparation of innovative teaching activities and resources
  • Demonstrated competence in using the necessary digital strategies required for effective curriculum delivery
  • Understanding and experience in using a range of contemporary teaching and assessment methodologies and practices.
  • High level communication, administrative and organisational skills

Bilingual capability in any two (or more) languages, including English is a distinct advantage in this position.
