We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.

To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.

We are currently seeking a full-time, continuing Lecturer to join our vibrant School of Allied Health Human Services and Sport, located at our picturesque Melbourne (Bundoora) campus.

About the Role:

As a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Your expertise will contribute to the design and delivery of cutting-edge coursework, ensuring our students are prepared for the challenges of tomorrow's professional landscape. With a focus on evidence-based, innovative teaching methods, you will engage students through a variety of learning experiences including lectures, tutorials, practical classes, and online platforms.

About the position:

  • Bring your expertise to coordinate and teach subjects, delivering a high-quality learning experience.
  • Lead in curriculum design and innovative teaching projects, enhancing student employability and engagement.
  • Engage in scholarship of teaching and learning, contributing to La Trobe’s culture of academic excellence.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, mentoring peers and students alike.
  • Participate actively in our community, building strong industry connections.

The candidate:

  • A PhD (completed or near completion) in a relevant discipline, or a Master’s of Accredited Exercise Physiology (completed or near completion).
  • A track record of effective teaching, curriculum development, and subject coordination across various modes of delivery.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement in teaching practices and student learning.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse academic community.
  • Eligibility for membership in relevant professional organizations such as ESSA.
