The University of Wollongong’s School of Humanities and Social Inquiry (HSI) is seeking to appoint a full-time Level B Lecturer in Sociology. HSI consists of a collection of Disciplines including Sociology, Philosophy, History, Politics, Indigenous Studies, Cultural Studies, and Languages and Linguistics. The School is home to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of International Studies, and the Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics degrees. The Discipline of Sociology specialises in the Sociology of Emotion; Environment and Bio-Technology; Gender Studies; Futures Studies; Digital Studies; and Political Sociology. 

The Lecturer, Sociology will make contributions to teaching within the Sociology program. Candidates should have a demonstrated capacity to contribute to teaching across all undergraduate levels in Sociology and must be able to teach a 200-level subject in Social Research Methods (including both quantitative and qualitative methods).

Research is an essential component of this role, and the successful candidate will be expected to have a strong record of research relative to opportunity and be able to contribute high-quality research within the School. The area of research specialisation is open, though we welcome applicants with expertise in race and migration and/or one of the discipline specialties listed above. The successful applicant will be encouraged and supported to apply for external research funding such as an ARC DECRA or Discovery Grant. The appointment will also be expected to contribute to governance at an appropriate level.

The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Sociology by the closing date for applications.
