The School of Science, Engineering & Technology at RMIT Vietnam is associated with the STEM College of RMIT University Melbourne, delivering the College’s award programs and developing research in the field(s) of science, engineering and health.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Psychology, you are expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the University, in disciplines related to their field of expertise. Specifically, you are responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. You are also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialization and may be responsible for course coordination.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Undergraduate teaching including designing, conducting and moderating assessment; implementing improvements informed by peer review, course evaluation and/or student feedback.

  • Professional activities and/or peer-reviewed research activities appropriate to the discipline including publishing research results in high-quality outlets as lead or co-author.

  • Membership of committees, working parties or other service duties as required.

  • Adhere to the requirements of the Academic Expectations and Development Framework of RMIT Vietnam.

OUR REQUIREMENTS

  • A PhD degree in the relevant discipline.

  • Proven teaching experience in the discipline you are applying for.  5 years required if you are an expatriate candidate.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of requisite content, psychological research, and writing skills for course/s taught within undergraduate Psychology programs. Having experience in teaching Forensic Psychology and courses related to Clinical Psychology is desirable.

  • Industry or professional experience.  

  • Strong research capabilities. Strong team player with an inclusive and collaborative approach.

  • Culturally adept and agile.

Please note: 

  • English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS Academic 7.0 and with no band less than 6.5 (or equivalent).

  • For Academic Teaching Staff, English Language Proficiency may be proven by showing completion of Ph.D. and/or a Master's qualification whilst being instructed through the medium of English, supported by the experience of teaching in an English-speaking environment for the past 24 months.

  • If you are an expatriate candidate, you will require a work permit to be employed at RMIT Vietnam. To qualify for a work permit you will need be able to demonstrate at least 5 years of teaching across relevant subjects in a tertiary education environment.
