About the role

The School of Education offers qualifications from associate degree through to postgraduate levels in initial teacher education (early childhood, primary, secondary and vocational education and training), sport, physical and outdoor education, as well as a range of pathway programmes (FAST, EAP, ELS) which support students across the university and partner providers. Our courses operate from campuses at Mt Helen, Berwick, Horsham and Churchill and in partnership with community education providers, schools and partner providers across Victoria, interstate and internationally.

As an integral member of our education team you will contribute primarily to relevant programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in your area of specialty in the primary education programmes. You will also be expected to supervise postgraduate students and contribute to fostering research culture in the School.

About you

Working under the broad direction of the Discipline Leader you will work as part of the School’s team of academic and administrative staff. You will possess proven educational, research and professional experience and seek to embed long and short-term research strategies for the School within the strategic framework of the University and in accordance with its mission. You will be a creative thinker and avid problem-solver, who possesses initiative, innovation and a can-do attitude.

At a Level B you will possess:

  • a relevant master’s degree with a significant research component;
  • commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching, with the ability to work independently in the conduct of teaching and research activities;
  • previous experience in academic administration;
  • research expertise; and
  • ability to work collegially.

At a Level C, you will also possess:

  • A doctoral qualification;
  • capacity to supervise honours and research postgraduate students;
  • ability to develop and implement a student-centred approach with a focus on student success, including the ability to monitor student success initiatives; and
  • demonstrated record of research at an international level.
