Why Your Role Matters:

The School of Science is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Physical Oceanography.  The School encompasses the disciplines of Physics and Oceanography, Chemistry, Geography, Aviation and Mathematics & Statistics. 

The School has a strong research profile in Oceanography with facilities to support field projects and computationally intensive modelling and data analysis.  Current research projects in Oceanography include Numerical modelling of waves, ocean currents and their interactions in estuaries, marginal seas and open oceans, simulation of sediment transport dynamics in ports, harbours and coastal marine environments, simulation of the effects of climate change and human interventions (e.g. land reclamations, marine constructions and coastline hardening) including on coastal processes such as waves, tides, storm surges and sea level rise in artificial and natural coastal environments.  Further details about the teaching program and research activities of staff can be found at the School web site: http://www.unsw.adfa.edu.au/sci/research

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs in Oceanography, including supervision of Honours and Postgraduate students. 

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the School's research program.  The School has a strong research profile in Oceanography with facilities to support field projects and computationally intensive modelling and data analysis. 

Applicants are expected to have a PhD in Oceanography or a closely related field, a demonstrated record of high quality research in Physical Oceanography and the ability and willingness to contribute to the teaching program at all levels.  Previous university teaching experience would be an advantage.  Appointment as a senior lecturer requires evidence of qualifications for that level.  Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
