The School of Psychological Sciences is seeking a suitably qualified academic in January 2024 – BALANCED POSITION – Lecturer or Senior Lecturer

THE ROLE

  • Salary Package:  Lecturer (Level B) from $115,787 to $136,995 or Senior Lecturer (Level C) from $141,376 to $162,584 p.a., plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.

  • Appointment Type: Full time, continuing position

  • Location: Macquarie University (Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde)

The School of Psychological Sciences is seeking a suitably qualified academic to be actively involved in the development, implementation, and delivery of units in the Master of Clinical Neuropsychology Postgraduate Psychology Course, as well as make further contributions to teaching and curriculum design across the School including other Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, as well as engaging in research.

You will have a tertiary qualification in psychology, and the capacity to design, deliver units and programs at the undergraduate and the postgraduate levels. You will also have a strong track record in research relative to experience. Additionally, you will possess a willingness to embrace educational technology, blended learning and educational innovation.

We offer accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Psychology with the largest suite of postgraduate programs in New South Wales. We also offer the Bachelor of Cognitive and Brain Sciences degree.

The School sits under the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) whose current education suite includes courses in clinical science, physiotherapy, medicine, exercise and sports science, public health, psychology, cognitive sciences, linguistics, audiology, and speech pathology. The Faculty forms part of MQ Health, an integrated academic health sciences enterprise which incorporates Macquarie University Hospital and primary and speciality clinics.

Essential criteria for Level B (Lecturer) & Level C (Senior Lecturer):

  • A PhD or equivalent tertiary qualifications in Psychology.

  • Current registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and status as a Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor, or at minimum, eligible for Registration as a Psychologist and also eligible for endorsement as a Clinical Neuropsychologist with AHPRA.

  • A commitment and capability to deliver high-quality learning and teaching, including the design, delivery, and management of online and face-to-face content, lectures, tutorials, and assessments, with evidence of excellent student outcomes and reflective practice.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to relate to build an inclusive teaching and learning environment, and work effectively in a team environment.

  • Evidence of successful delivery to diverse student cohorts and of creating a positive student experience characterised by strong engagement at the undergraduate and /or postgraduate levels.

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching in neuropsychology units in accredited programs including neuropsychological practice, rehabilitation of neurological disorders, and psychological assessment, with strong student evaluations. 

  • Demonstrated strong track record in research, relative to opportunity, including research grants and peer reviewed publications.

Additional Essential for Level C (Senior Lecturer):

  • Experience and capacity to successfully supervise Honours, Masters and/ or PhD research students.

  • Ability to proactively engage or partner with industry and professional bodies on relevant research and / or teaching projects and to represent the School to external stakeholders and the general public

  • Demonstrated experience to make a contribution to the academic life and administrative tasks of the School and Faculty along with a track record of effective teamwork.

  • Outstanding learning and teaching experience with demonstrated experience of involvement in course/curriculum development.

Preferred/Desirable at both levels

  • Experience in, and/or with the teaching of, applied and/or translational research skills in neuropsychological practice across the lifespan.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to teaching across both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in psychological sciences.

  • Available to commence position by May, 2024 and no later than 17 June 2024.
