About This Opportunity 

An exciting opportunity to contribute to teaching, research, and service as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Agribusiness.

Open to candidates at both Academic Level B and Academic Level C, the selected individual will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate Agribusiness programs primarily at the Gatton campus, with the possibility of assignments at the St Lucia campus. The academic’s teaching responsibilities will include courses covering topics such as agricultural economics, international agricultural development, agricultural policy, and supply chain management. Additionally, the academic will contribute to teaching in other agribusiness-related undergraduate and postgraduate courses. They are anticipated to elevate the School’s research profile on both national and international levels, supervising research students, spearheading innovative research programs, and securing external grant funding. Furthermore, the appointee is expected to contribute to advancing the School’s programs and participate in associated administrative activities, ensuring the School’s seamless operation and continuous development. They will play a crucial role in not only disseminating knowledge but also in shaping and enriching the curriculum, fostering an environment conducive to learning and discovery, and upholding the academic integrity and reputation of the School.

This is a full-time (100%), continuing position.

At Academic level B, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $106,079.67 - $125,687.99, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $124,113.21 - $147,054.95 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

At Academic level C, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $129,609.64 - $149,217.97, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $151,643.28 - $174,585.02 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You  

Candidates should hold a PhD in Agribusiness, or a field closely related.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Expertise in a range of agribusiness-related areas, with a focus on international development, agricultural economics and policy, and supply chain management.

  • Experience in course coordination and contribution to developing and continuously innovating new programs, curriculum design and course material.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and teach innovative courses in agribusiness areas and deliver information in various formats at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

  • Reputation and a track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • A record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.

  • Ability to effectively supervise postgraduate research students from Honours to PhD.

  • An ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote agribusiness at a university and wider community level, including industry, government, funding agencies, and professional bodies.

  • Research interests that complement those of other staff members, as outlined on the School’s website, would be desirable.

  • Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.

Additional selection criteria for Level C

  • Demonstrated capacity for independent research, with a track record of experience as a chief investigator or lead on substantial externally funded research projects.

  • Demonstrated track record of curriculum innovation and the development of teaching resources that foster critical and strategic thinking.

  • Track record as an effective principal supervisor of higher degree research students.

  • Track record of strong industry engagement and collaborations.
