  • Full-time, Continuing position for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, Economics 

  • Academic Level B or C + 17% Superannuation  

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University 


 


About you and the role 


The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position sits in the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing; one of five schools that comprise the College of Business and Law. As the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will play an integral role in the research, engagement and teaching programs within the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing. The Senior Lecturer may have responsibility for program management.  


We welcome applications from all areas of economics, with particular interest in applied econometrics with skills in big data/machine learning; digital economics; development economics  


 


To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum 


Lecturer: 


  • PhD in Economics (completed or expected in 2024)

  • Demonstrated ability to direct an award program/s and implement program improvements and innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement programs.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to financial, governance and quality management systems within a university. 


 


Senior Lecturer


  • A PhD in Economics

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large program or a number of small programs. 

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate large courses and prepare and delivery programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including high quality curriculum and program materials and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement. 

  • Emerging nationally recognised research track record including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets.  

  • Demonstrated ability to attract and supervise higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance. 

  • Ability to manage academic program team, supporting scholarly development of less experienced academic staff. 

  • Demonstrated experience in financial, governance and quality management systems within a university.

About the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing  


The school began as the Department of Economics and Finance in 1990 and in 2005 the discipline of Marketing joined the Department to become the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing. As a School we aim to provide practical, relevant, and innovative economics, finance, marketing, blockchain enabled business and social impact programs; research; industry training and consulting which graduates, employers, industry and university peers acknowledge as amongst the best available in the international marketplace. 


We offer undergraduate programs in Economics, Finance and Marketing, postgraduate programs in Finance and in Marketing and Blockchain Enabled Business and higher degrees by research (Masters or PhD) in all three of our disciplines (Economics, Finance and Marketing). Our undergraduate programs are also offered at RMIT Vietnam and through our partnership with The Singapore Institute of Management.
