Your new role

In this specialist role, you will be responsible for leading, promoting, translating, and implementing nursing research to support strategic priorities and imperatives in

Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS)

Community Health. This position will inform and support evidenced based community health nursing practice offered to infants, children, adolescents and families in this health setting. The successful applicant will ideally have a keen interest in the interface between community health nursing and the social determinants of health; population health; and primary care, health promotion and prevention in children and adolescents. Your duties will include but are not limited to (please see attached Academic Role Statement in the ‘Join Us’ section for full duties):


  • Developing a coherent programme of research in collaboration with the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS).
  • Providing leadership and build research capacity, in a range of projects with Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS).
  • Being involved and leading research groups and committees at both Curtin and the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS).

You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.

  • A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated high level teaching skill and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
  • An established record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
  • A history of successful competitive grant applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.
  • Demonstrated experience / capacity to undertake unit coordination role.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
