The Opportunity

The Department of Human Centred Commuting (HCC) hosts the Learning Analytics and Computing Education (LACE) discipline. LACE specialises in human-centred approaches to big data to enhance computing education and is one of the leading IT education groups in the Asia-Pacific region. At LACE we are seeking to appoint an education-focused Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to lead our IT education program and embrace evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning.

As the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer you will make a solid contribution to the teaching effort within the Faculty and conduct education-focused research. Reporting directly to the Head of Department you will display and promote leadership in education and embrace evidence-informed approaches to practice. The successful candidate will foster excellence in teaching, education-focused research and professional activities.

As the Associate Professor will guide and mentor staff in the faculty with regards to education-focused activities. The position will lead teaching teams and oversee unit development. The role will design, deliver and evaluate a range of teaching activities which actively engage students and effectively deliver learning outcomes. The Associate Professor will engage in attracting external funding and will supervise Honours and Higher Degree Research (HDR) students.

About You: 

As the successful candidate, you will possess an advanced qualification in the relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and research experience. Your previous experience and expertise in education-focused roles, supervising and successfully working with staff and students will be essential to this position.

Strong interpersonal skills and proven experience mentoring and supervising postgraduate and HDR students is required for success in this role. The successful candidate will have a passion for engaging in scholarly activities, demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong scholarship/research record.
