Curtin’s School of Nursing is the longest established school of nursing in the Australian university sector. From the time it opened 47 years ago, the school has been a key part of the University’s drive to be a leader in health sciences education and research. The school delivers a range of undergraduate courses in nursing, oral health therapy and paramedicine; and specialist postgraduate courses in areas ranging from diabetes and critical care, to child health and midwifery.  

In this role you will:

  • Deliver high quality lectures and practical sessions to students related to Paramedicine.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing reflective improvement in teaching.
  • Design and develop course content that is engaging, up-to-date, and aligned with industry standard and best practices.
  • Conduct research and contribute to the development of new and innovative approaches to teaching and learning in the field of Paramedicine.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Supervise and support students in their clinical placements.
  • Contribute to the academic and professional development of colleagues, including mentoring and training as required.

To apply for this role, you are required to hold a current AHPRA registration as a registered Paramedic. Experience working in the Higher Education sector is highly desirable.

You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.

  • A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
  • Registered with AHPRA (or the equivalent Australian health professional regulatory authority).
  • Demonstrated high level teaching skill and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and experience of scholarship in teaching.
  • A record of research outputs in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience to undertake unit coordination role.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
