About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer the join the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at UQ. In this role, you will contribute principally to the Master of Nurse Practitioner Program, as well as undertaking research and administrative activities associate with the School.

As a Lecturer, you will focus your efforts on growing your profile in clinical teaching, clinical research and service and engagement. As a Clinical Academic at Level B, you are expected to assume a significant role in professional activities.

Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Contributing to development of course material and new programs in the area of focus

  • Actively contributing towards educational practice and innovative curriculum design

  • Developing clinical research and publishing and presenting the results of research in high quality outlets

  • Facilitating the translation of research findings into clinical practice

  • Participating in applications for competitive funding

  • Demonstrating a track record of effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students

  • Showing leadership of self and others through mentoring, collaboration, and active participation in priority activities

  • Effectively and efficiently managing internal service roles and administrative processes as required, including participation in decision making and service on relevant committees

This is a part-time (80%), continuing position. At Academic level B, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,201 - $128,201, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $126,595 - $149,996 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

The total package may include an annual market loading amount in addition to the base salary, increasing your total remuneration dependant on skills and experience. This will be discussed as part of the interview process.

About You  

You will be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Completion of an advanced professional qualification or Higher Degree by Research in the discipline area.

  • Registered as a nurse, and either endorsed or eligible for endorsement as a nurse practitioner, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

  • A growing profile in clinical teaching and/or clinical research in the discipline area.

  • Industry knowledge and experience in a general or specialist capacity.

  • Evidence of supporting the implementation of new and innovative clinical techniques.

  • A beginning record of peer reviewed publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • Evidence of a high level of quality clinical teaching at undergraduate postgraduate and/or professional entry level.

  • Demonstrated involvement in activities that foster links with the profession and the relevant specialty.

  • Evidence of a developing network of industry liaisons and professional contacts.

  • Some experience in meaningful internal service roles that resulted in positive impacts towards the organisational unit.

  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from a multidisciplinary background.

In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:

  • Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment. 

  • Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

  • AHPRA Registration: Is it a requirement of this position that the incumbent holds and maintains full AHPRA registration.
