Your new role
Curtin University is seeking a Lecturer for a teaching and research role in the discipline of Mechatronic Engineering based at the Bentley (Perth) campus in Western Australia. The successful candidate will develop and deliver curriculum in the rapidly growing undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees, undertake research related to Mechatronic Engineering, and supervise honours and postgraduate research students. 

This position will contribute to the overall output of excellence in Teaching and Research in the School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering.  Your ability to connect emerging technologies with mechatronic engineering will be highly regarded.  You will supervise honours project students as well as higher degree research students (PhD or Masters).

The position is located on the Bentley Campus of Curtin University but may involve collaborations with Curtin campuses in Malaysia and Dubai or education partners in Sri Lanka. The position will involve engaging with students, collaborators, industry partners and developing funding proposals.

Essential Requirements:

  • PhD in Mechatronic Engineering or field directly related to Mechatronic Engineering
  • Evidence of a capability or potential to develop and deliver high-quality teaching in Mechatronic Engineering or related fields
  • Evidence of a capability or potential to deliver high quality research in Mechatronic Engineering related fields
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity

Desirable Requirements:

  • Capacity to deliver teaching and research related to the use and application of emerging technologies (e.g., robot autonomy, automation, predictive analytics) in engineering domains
  • Excellent software development skills and experience with delivery of computing services
  • Track record of interdisciplinary research collaboration
  • Track record of engagement with industry, community, or government in relation to research and/or teaching
  • Evidence of engagement at the professional or disciplinary level
