About the Roles

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established, high-performing team of mathematics academics at the University of South Australia. These positions will contribute to and enhance our high-quality teaching of service and discipline-specific courses at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level within UniSA STEM, and help advance STEM’s dynamic research agenda.

The Teaching focused position is responsible for the development and delivery of teaching resources and activities in the Mathematical Sciences in undergraduate and postgraduate programs within UniSA STEM and across the University.

The Teaching and Research focused position is responsible for the development and delivery of teaching resources and activities within STEM’s undergraduate, honours and postgraduate programs and for contributing to STEM’s research agenda. To be considered for Level B, a doctoral qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field, is required.

Teaching focused position Level A

  • Bachelor qualification and either a postgraduate degree or relevant industry/discipline experience in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline
  • Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of contemporary teaching methodologies

Teaching focused position Level B

  • Bachelor qualification along with postgraduate degree or relevant industry/discipline experience in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in teaching, including design and preparation of teaching activities and resources
  • Understanding of and experience in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies

Teaching Research focused position Level A

  • Bachelor qualification and either a postgraduate degree or relevant industry/discipline experience in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline. Candidates who are nearing completion of their doctoral qualification are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties
  • Ability to undertake research in one or more of the following areas:
    • applied statistics
    • applied optimisation
    • classical applied mathematical modelling
    • Knowledge and understanding of a range of contemporary teaching methodologies

Teaching Research focused position Level B

  • A doctoral qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in teaching, including design and preparation of teaching activities and resources
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake research in one or more of the following areas:
    • applied statistics
    • applied optimisation
    • classical applied mathematical modelling
  • Understanding of and experience in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies

Both positions Level A and B

  • High-level communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, colleagues, and external parties
  • Empathy for students from a variety of backgrounds
  • High-level administrative and organisational skills
