- Based in the Justice and Society Unit at the City West campus
- Two (2) Full-time, three year fixed term contracts
- Commencement Salary: Level A $90,421 / Level B $101,784 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)
About the Roles
This Teaching Academic position is primarily focussed on the preparation and delivery of teaching activities within the Unit’s undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs. This position will contribute to the development of curricula and will utilise contemporary professional/discipline-related expertise to deliver high-quality teaching. This position is responsible for carrying out a range of activities to develop and maintain scholarly expertise related to the discipline.
The Lecturer: Law will also create, develop and manage effective systems and processes and establish and maintain key relationships with external service providers within, and connected to, the legal community. The role will involve daily supervision of client files, supervision of students and monitoring of legal advice provided by students to clients.

Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement learning activities including lectures, tutorials, assessment and provide timely feedback to students
- Adopt appropriate teaching approaches (including face-to-face, online and blended learning) to promote student learning
- Contribute to the design and development of engaging course curricula and materials, and ensure that teaching is informed by relevant research in the field
- Undertake teaching as part of the teaching team, including co-ordinating moderation of marking exercises
- Act as a student advisor by providing academic counselling, mentoring and advice to students
Essential Skills and Experience
- Post-graduate teaching qualification or relevant industry/discipline experience in Law
- (Level A) Demonstrated ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources, or (Level B) A doctoral qualification or a Masters qualification in Law, or equivalent professional/industry/teaching (law) experience
- (Level A) High level written and oral communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties, colleagues and students, or (Level B) Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and a commitment to the contemporary practice of Law
In addition to the above, one Lecturer: Law role will focus on legal practice and requires the below essential skills and experience:
- 5 years post admission experience as a legal practitioner
- Qualified to hold an unrestricted and unconditional Practising Certificate under the Legal Practitioners Act 1981 (SA)
