About the Role 

As the Lecturer in Rural and Remote Mental Health, you will deliver excellence in teaching and research by designing and delivering mental health education relevant to rural and remote contexts. Your role will be integral for the innovative development and implementation of a mental health academic work plan for rural South Australia, to foster enterprising medical, nursing, and allied health graduates. You will strive to progress rural and remote health service delivery. You will contribute to improving health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and non-Indigenous people living in rural and remote South Australia by collaborating with industry and community stakeholders.

In this role, you will:

• Deliver inspiring and innovative teaching relevant to Mental Health.

• Train staff, students, and local health professionals to better recognise and deal with mental health problems and provide support for students of mental health disciplines on clinical placements.

• Demonstrate a commitment to undertaking high-quality scholarly research activities by contributing to current and future projects aligned with the Flinders University Rural and Remote Health Strategy.

• Collaborate closely with the Northern Territory and with industry and community stakeholders to increase awareness of services available.

About You 

You will use your well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to develop positive collegial relationships with students, staff, and stakeholders. Your ability to develop, maintain and utilise collaborative partnerships with community agencies, and other carer groups will effectively progress the mental health project in rural and remote regions.

As the Lecturer in Rural and Remote Mental Health, you will be passionate about a mental health, community engagement, and health care in rural and remote regions, which will be reflected in your curriculum design, topic coordination and research.   You will demonstrate commitment to the key elements of the Flinders Reconciliation Action Plan to foster an environment that recognises and embraces Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowledge, and cultures.

The ideal candidate will also have a PhD, or equivalent qualification, or evidence of professional standing, reputation and qualifications demonstrated to be of an equivalent standard in the discipline area. Registration with an Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) administered registration Board is desired.

Prescribed Conditions for Employment

• A valid National Police Certificate which is satisfactory to the University will also be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
