About the Role

The College of Medicine and Public Health are seeking a Lecturer in Public Health for a full-time, continuing position. This balanced position will be responsible for delivering inspiring and innovative teaching as well as contributing high-quality research in the areas of strength to the College.

Specifically, responsibilities will include:

  • Pursuing a platform of education to better understand the uptake and implementation of chronic disease prevention interventions.

  • Engaging consumers and communities in research to develop successful prevention programs.

  • Prioritising, coordinating, and monitoring workflows of research support staff and academic teaching staff.

  • Participating in internal and external quality assurance and accreditation processes.

  • Maintaining strategic working relationships with a range of multi-disciplinary teams, internal and external to the University.

  • Cultivating a work environment of respect, trust, and collaboration.

About the Public Health Discipline

The Public Health Discipline Group includes a diverse range of Public Health expertise in Health Equity, Social Determinants of Health, First Nations Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Promotion and offer a range of electives that reflect the diversity of Public Health. In addition, the Discipline Group collaborates strongly with other College disciplines such as Rural and Remote health, Primary Care, and Digital Health as we seek to progress a visionary agenda to achieve real outcomes that have direct impact and benefit to our community.

About You

To be successful as a Lecturer in Public Health, you will be a high-quality tertiary teacher and researcher evidenced by your involvement in topic coordination, publications and gaining competitive grants. You are an excellent communicator in all formats, particularly in your ability to establish working relationships with staff, students, and industry. Your ability to engage in e-learning platforms for teaching purposes helps you to deliver innovative and inspiring curriculum.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Completion of a PhD in behavioural or social science, epidemiology, public health, medicine or other health related field, or equivalent qualification.

  • An understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, and scholarship.

  • Leadership in curriculum reviews and accreditation activities.

  • Success in mentoring honours and higher degree students to completion (desirable).
