  • Based in the UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance Unit at the City East campus
  • Full-time, fixed term contract until 20 November 2025
  • Commencement Salary: $93,165 (Level A) or $104,838 (Level B) per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

This position is responsible for contributing to the teaching, scholarship, research and professional activities of the Academic Unit. The position will coordinate and teach in the Medical Sonography discipline, however, due to an increased focus on multidisciplinary teaching, the position may be required to work with multidisciplinary student groups. The position will also contribute to the advancement of teaching and enhance the research profile of the Academic Unit.

The UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance Academic Unit offers a wide range of degrees and conducts research in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, medical radiation sciences, medical sonography, speech pathology, clinical exercise physiology, exercise and nutrition, health sciences, public health, exercise and sport science, and human movement.

Core Responsibilities

ACADEMIC LEVEL A

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of courses
  • Apply research and scholarship to the development of courses, including investigating and developing alternative teaching methods
  • Maintain and strive to improve the quality of courses as measured with a variety of evaluation instruments
  • Develop a network of contacts to support and contribute to the development and delivery of courses
  • Provide academic counselling and high-quality service and advice to students

ACADEMIC LEVEL B

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver courses on campus, offshore, online or via other appropriate methods
  • Work collaboratively and reciprocally with staff in other Academic Units and partner organisations to ensure that courses contain quality content
  • Supervise / co-supervise honours or postgraduate students as appropriate to qualifications
  • Create, foster and enhance national and international links with relevant industry, business, university and community bodies
  • Undertake course coordination duties (as required)

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sonography or relevant discipline, together with accreditation with the Australia Sonographer Accreditation Registry
  • Demonstrated ability to provide teaching and supervision of Medical Sonography students and ability to actively engage and educate a student group

ACADEMIC LEVEL A

  • Clinical practice experience as a Medical Sonographer
  • Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal ability, written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a diverse team
  • High level administrative and organisational skills

ACADEMIC LEVEL B

  • PhD in Medical Sonography, together with accreditation with the Australia Sonographer Accreditation Registry
  • Clinical practice experience and leadership as a Medical Sonographer
  • Demonstrated commitment to continual professional and personal development
