About the Role

Film and Television at VCA offers screen production education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Reporting to the Head of Film and Television, in this role you will contribute to teaching into these programs. You will have a focus on training in production coordination and management, OH&S compliance as well as screen craft skills, including practical and theoretical education in screen producing, direction, and screenwriting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Successfully preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, and studio sessions as appropriate
  • Initiating and developing high-quality subject materials with a production management focus
  • Undertaking consultation with students and marking and assessment as appropriate
  • Analysing of learning needs of students and identifying appropriate approaches to teaching production management

About You

You are an experienced teaching specialist with a passion for film, television and screen media production. You will be able to draw on your strong communication and interpersonal skills, to work collegially as an active member of VCA Film and Television’s academic team, and to function at all times with integrity and professionalism.

You will also have:

  • A Ph.D. will be highly regarded but equivalent professional experience in film and television production and demonstrated capabilities in research processes will be actively considered.
  • Compatibility of teaching and research skills to the interests of the Faculty
  • Demonstrated capacity to coordinate existing academic and/or artistic programs in a cost-effective way.
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to contribute to the engagement activities of Film and TV, such as effective liaison with external networks to foster collaborative partnerships.
  • Academic administrative skills
