The Discipline of Accounting, Governance and Regulation is a well-resourced group of around 40 academics and 35 sessional staff. It is strongly committed to excellence in both research and teaching. The Discipline is home to two highly rated international journals, Abacus and Critical Perspectives on Accounting and, through its recently constituted Board of Advice, works closely with industry, business and the accounting profession

We are currently seeking to appoint 2 new colleagues with expertise in Business Law and are particularly keen to recruit colleagues with expertise in taxation law to support delivery of our business law offerings.  These posts, located in the discipline of Accounting, Governance and Regulation, will contribute to the range of business programs across the school at all levels, as well as our professionally recognized undergraduate and postgraduate accounting programs.

Education-focused roles are a specialised category of academic engagement reserved for talented educators with a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, pedagogical practice and design. In this role you will be expected to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation within the program and will be on a trajectory towards leadership in educational design and delivery. The majority of your contribution will be within education (up to 70% - or 80% by mutual agreement), with a proportion of workload (up to 20%) available for research.

We are currently seeking to recruit colleagues with a commitment to outstanding education to support and develop the delivery of our programs. You will contribute to the educational and administrative duties of the Discipline and School and support the further development of a positive workplace culture, aligned to the strategic direction of the Business School and University.

About you

We are looking for Lecturers in Business Law (Education focused) who possess:

  • completed (or near completion of) a PhD in Business Law or a closely related field, or equivalent higher professional recognition
  • recognized expertise in higher education pedagogy (e.g. FHEA, M.Ed.), or willingness to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Education Studies (Higher Education) or a comparable qualification
  • expertise in Australian business law, with a preference for taxation law
  • a proven ability, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly activities to inform innovative pedagogical practice across a range of delivery modes
  • deep and broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment,
  • demonstrated success in designing, developing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
  • a network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders.
