SCHOOL OF ARTS AND HUMANITIES
$102,253 to $120,814 pa ALEVB
ONGOING, FULL-TIME, SOUTHWEST CAMPUS (BUNBURY)

Overview
ECU’s School of Arts and Humanities delivers a nationally recognised Social Work program from our South West Campus in Bunbury. Our program explores the complex nature of contemporary societies, promoting the rights and wellbeing of individuals and communities. The course aims to equip students to work generically, providing opportunities to explore social work responses to both local and global issues, including the impacts of climate. A distinctive feature of the course is its focus on working alongside regional, rural and remote communities. Such an approach is grounded in the conviction that community development perspectives used in regional, rural and remote contexts are also applicable in urban settings.

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker with a sound understanding and broad experience of the profession to lecture in and coordinate the Field Work Placement within the Bachelor of Social Work. This “teaching-focussed” role is “hands on”, working with the industry to facilitate placement opportunities for students and contribute to excellence in teaching within our Social Work program.

The successful applicant must have:

  • A PhD (preferred) in a relevant social science discipline (or a minimum Master of Social Work) and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • A minimum five (5) years of post-graduate professional experience in social work practice in a relevant industry setting and knowledge of and strong networks within the human services sector.
  • Experience with flexible teaching and learning methods and technology with a demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and coordinate academic units for on-campus and online.
  • Highly developed self-management skills with the ability to efficiently work on multiple tasks simultaneously and meet required deadlines.
  • Capacity to develop and support the Field Education team to deliver quality experiences for Social Work students, under the direction of the Course Coordinator

The successful applicant must hold (or be able to obtain) an Australian National Police Clearance and a Working with Children Check (or equivalent) and must have the required Immunisation status to work in the Health and related sectors.

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry and Personal Excellence.
