The Position

Express your passion for teaching and research in a diverse, dynamic, future focused environment. Contribute to the development of the environmental science curriculum, equipping future graduates to focus on the environmental challenges facing society in Australia and around the world. Create and lead teaching in applied social environmental science, connecting students with researchers and environment professionals.  Increase your research impact through the strong policy engagement that the Fenner School of Environment & Society is known for and build impact through the classroom of graduates that move into government and industry. As part of the ANU College of Science, you will interact with willing researchers from a wide range of disciplines keen to collaborate to address the big environmental challenges facing contemporary society.

The Person

This position offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic academic in sustainability science with a strong interdisciplinary mindset. The person in this role should be passionate about teaching as this is the focus of the position. Teaching responsibilities require coverage of sustainable development and collaborative teaching is encouraged. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fostering collaborative learning environments, where they will engage with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a passion and vision for ongoing development and support of a curriculum that embeds transdisciplinary experience, co-design practice and discipline depth. The curriculum should also produce graduates that have cross-cultural intelligence for collaboration and professional integrity. The candidate will be expected to extend this education passion to research, create social economic and environmental impact and deliver real-world solutions to address complex environmental challenges.

The School

The Fenner School of Environment & Society is an interdisciplinary school with a focus on applied problems, so we are open to candidates from a wide range of core disciplinary backgrounds across sustainability sciences.
