About the Role

The position of Lecturer (Engineering and Computing Education) based in the Teaching and Learning Laboratory within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, assumes a pivotal role in shaping curriculum development, implementation, and assessment strategies. Working closely with the Director of the Laboratory, the Lecturer leverages research in engineering and computing education to bolster student learning and engagement, aligning initiatives with the faculty’s strategic goals. Integral responsibilities include spearheading evidence-based programs and projects to enhance teaching capabilities, supporting staff in refining teaching methodologies, and conducting research to evaluate and inform teaching and learning enhancements, thereby making significant contributions to engineering education and related fields.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide strategic advice on best practice in teaching, learning and assessment to staff who teach in the Faculty.
  • Monitor, identify and promote engaging, effective, and efficient learning approaches, taking advantage of educational technologies to support learning.
  • Investigate and communicate contemporary educational issues, practices and technologies, and evidence-based research relevant to engineering and computing education.
  • Provide evidence-based teaching and learning support within the faculty, particularly relating to educational design (e.g., pedagogy, curriculum design and mapping, learning outcomes, assessment, feedback, inclusion, industry engagement, project-based learning, technologies, and effective use of learning spaces and resources)

Who We Are Looking For 

You will demonstrate leadership in teaching and scholarly research through collaboration, cultivate diverse partnerships in the Faculty and University, industry, government, and other universities to enrich teaching and research engagement, and exhibit both independent work capability and effective teamwork. Your high level of written communication and interpersonal skills will enhance your effectiveness in these roles.

You will also have:

  • Completed a PhD in engineering or computing education or a relevant discipline or be close to completion.
  • A solid understanding of contemporary issues in teaching and learning in engineering education, particularly those relating to project-based learning and authentic learning activities and assessments.
  • Evidence of high-quality publications in engineering or computing education research and demonstrated success in conceptualising, preparing and managing relevant grants to completion
  • Demonstrated capacity to identify sources of funding to support projects relating to teaching.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
