The Opportunity

The Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) integrates research from five fundamental research themes to identify, develop, optimise and deliver new drug treatments – ultimately translating basic research into clinical trials. The areas of research strength of the five themes at MIPS are Drug Delivery, Disposition and Dynamics , Drug Candidate Optimisation , Drug Discovery Biology , Medicinal Chemistry and Medicine Use and Safety .

The Drug Delivery, Disposition and Dynamics (D4) theme is home to a team of multidisciplinary researchers who are working on approaches to maximise therapeutic activity and minimise side effects of new and existing medicines. The D4 theme is internationally renowned for research programs in lipid-based drug delivery, the role of lymphatics in disease progression and drug distribution, nanomedicines and nanomaterials for therapeutic and diagnostic applications.

Reporting to the Head of Theme, Drug Delivery, Disposition and Dynamics, the Lecturer is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the university and to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.

As the successful candidate you will be responsible for:

  • Undergraduate education and postgraduate training programs in pharmacy and pharmaceutical science
  • Developing an independent research program in Delivery, Disposition and Dynamics ideally in the field of delivery and formulation of nucleic acids, peptides and/or proteins
  • Leading and driving research and education strategy
  • Providing support, supervision and mentorship to PhD, honours and postgraduate students 
  • Other duties as directed from time to time

To be successful in the role, you will have a doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline area or equivalent accreditation and standing.
